Got my new MacMini - So far so good!

Had a black screen once during the setup for two seconds (I'm connected via HDMI to my TV). But have now been running for almost two hours with no further issues. 2.6Ghz Quad i7/Fusion Drive.

One oddity though is that my volume slider is greyed out. It wasn't till I tried to play some music that I realized that the volume would now be controlled exclusively from my soundbar via coaxial digital audio. My first experience going digital throughput with respects to audio.

First time I've used and seen Mountain Lion (I'm coming directly from Snow Leopard) - One quirk; Like what the hell is with the puke coloured leather? on iCal..oh but its not called iCal anymore either...lol!

This thing screams in Aperture!
Coming from a 2006 24" iMac, I was used to going and making a coffee while waiting for it to import even just a folder of 69 files.

I'd swear it took less then 4 seconds on the Macmini

Well, have had it on for about 5 minutes this morning and had a flash of white static across the middle portion of my screen. I'm hooked up to a 42" Panasonic 60Hz LCD via Apple branded HDMI-->HDMI cable.

Keep my fingers crossed that these screen issues are limited to just the first few minutes upon boot up.

have the server, hooked up to a 46" HDTV with HDMI - during initial setup I got a grey screen flash for a second. Since then I have noticed nothing out of the ordinary.
Bear in mind my Mini stays on 24/7 since its used as a server. Most of the time I tend to access it via VNC on my iPad or screen share with my MBP. Although I have watched a few movies through it using Plex and noticed no image issues since the original one at setup.

That is it not only. Hdmi has also bad colors compared to Displayport/thunderbolt. If you can test it, you see the difference. (Only with Intel HD4000)

I also have a 24" monitor that I can hook-up to the Mac mini for colour-critical work, via TB-->DVI. Unfortunately, I can only use the HDMI into the LCD TV, its either that or VGA, which to me is not an option!

Some additional comments;

Have had another black screen incident today, lasted again for about two seconds, I was also playing some music in iTunes - it cut out as well.

Have had at least two more quick flashes of white static.

As for Mountain Lion, It's nice but there are a few omissions that really bother me - For instance, the 'hand' tool has been removed from the "Preview" application. This was great for panning around. WTF is Apple doing? Sigh... I've switched to an application called "Xee" as a excellent alternate.

Did an encode of an SD program on handbrake...nice to see all those cores chugging away. CPU temps hit 100°C!! Fans kicked in and brought'er down to 88°c...now idle again back down to a cool 47°C. Was getting 275fps while encoding...scorchingly fast!!!

Could you try to play a 1080p movie? I noticed occasionally frames were skipped on a Mini 2.6/4GB. Perhaps more RAM would help.

You can remove the leather UI from Calendar with this free app:

That's either a software or HD issue. Minis have been capable of 1080p playback without dropping frames since 2009.

Maybe check the refresh rate on the display that you're outputting to?
When I first set mine up, my HD video looked kinda jittery, I quickly realized the refresh rate had defaulted to 24hz, I changed it to 60hz and it has been fine since.
