This is my fourth SR MBP. The box arrived with double taping, indicating that Apple had re-opened it and done something to the machine or other content - don't know what, but I do know that it was Apple who did it. The machine is a week 27 and the display is an LG LP154WP2-TLA1. As far as I can tell, there is no yellow tint when viewed straight on. at about 50 degree angles the whole display gets yellowish, but it's normal for LCD to distort - this one just does it in yellow instead of other colors.

The display is reasonably evenly lit (not like a desktop but it's fine) though the top right corner seems darker. The one thing that is different on this display from my past LG displays is that there is a visible strip of brightness at the bottom that is visible with solid colors and when moving something over that area. It's the entire length of the display, but it's a very narrow strip so I think I can live with it. It's certainly not worse than any of the older MBPs 15" or 17"!

Just wanted to report on the display since so many people are interested in that when looking to buy. More later, but so far everything is working as it should.

I also have a similar strip but at the top of my screen, if I look from an angle this strip turns more yelow, i have a white wallpaper and this remains white while this strip goes a darker yelow - can't notice it straight on - just a little odd.

I had a bright strip along the bottom, it goes within a week or so

I noticed the same thing. Day one I was watching a DVD and noticed a little bleed along the bottom. After a few days, it was gone and has remained gone ever since. Perhaps a few heat/cool cycles help the display seat better into its frame.
