I'm upgrading from a late 06 Macbook C2D so upgrading to a quad core i5 is quite an upgrade. I've been saving for a while and I have to say so far it is well worth the wait. This machine is very fast!

The refurb looks brand new to me. Even the keyboard and mouse look brand new. I was very nervous about all the issues with the iMacs I've been reading about over the last 9 months but so far it all seems well. Screen is absolutely amazing and it is ultra silent.

Coming from a 13" screen I was a little worried (and still am) that 27" is a bit too large for me, but using it a few hours I am adjusting. It is a little bright so I might have to tweak some things.

So far good luck with a refurb here.

I know the feeling!!! I got a refurb i7 just last week. It was perfect I love my new mac. :) To help with the the brightness look at a program called Shades. Just do a search in google. I put it on mine and it helps a lot to tone it down. :)

Congrats i received mine a few days ago and as you said they look completely new only difference is the box i am coming from a 15" and i thought that i adjusted to the 27" screen in a matter of minutes it is so good to work on and i am loving the brightness of the screen my old computer looks completely dull compared to the screen of the iMac.

But I guess your new keyboard is missing the period key. Better call Apple.
:p

Just ordered my refurb i7 today so it's great to read that you got one with no issues whatsoever! I'me gonna be moving from 20 inch iMac to 27 inch, hope i'll also not have too many problems. Really look forward to that huge screen but probably will have to make some modifications to my desk in order for it to fit! :p

Thanks for the tip for "Shades", am not sure I'll use it but good to know it exists!

I went from a 17 inch iMac to a 27 inch iMac. The difference is amazing. My 27 refurb even had a nice little upgrade. It had a 2TB hdd instead of a 1TB. The refurb was on plain packaging but was completely flawless otherwise.

definitely keep the shades program in mind. I didn't think I would use it either but I ended up putting it on three days later. I put it to around 80% and the strain on my eyes is completely gone. Without it even dimming the monitor it just wasn't enough :(.

I also ordered a refurbished 27, i hope it comes with a free upgrade. To get it with 2Tb instead of 1Tb as you received it or with 8GB of Ram as others have received sounds like a little gift from Apple :)

Does Shades work with SL 10.6.3 / 10.6.4?

Shades sounds like a great program. For those who are using it on your iMac does it work with 10.6.3 or 10.6.4?

I'm glad to hear the refurbs are okay-I may go this route.

yeah I just got my i7 refurb yesterday great condition but no free upgrades unfortunately as advertised oh well i was hoping.

Thanks for sharing! mine's in transit! It would be nice to have some free upgrade, but I'm hoping more for a problem-free refurb! I expect it in the coming week.. we'll see!

Im in a similar boat. Going from an 06' MBP and planning to upgrade to an Imac 27". Ill lose the portability but I have my iphone 4 to deal with that issue and besides my mbp sits on my desk 99% of the time.

I'm going to be picking up my refurb i7 at TNT depot tonight. I really hope it's in good shape and no yellow tint issues or screen/HD noise.

I will post the results of the first inspection later!

By the way, the Apple Estimated Delivery Date was spot on... pretty impressive!

I got my 27" i7 Refurb last week and it was in absolutely perfect condition. The box it arrived in was a bit bashed but there was not a mark on the iMac itself.

No free upgrades for me either but no dreaded screen problems. I refuse to do the yellow tint test because I cannot notice a problem when using it. Refurbs all the way for me from now on :p

Since my 27" refurb arrived on Friday I've noticed that my aluminum MacBook now looks tiny by comparison. Good thing my wife uses that most of the time. I took me some time to adjust to the large display, but after playing on the weekend, installing software and Boot Camp, I love it.

Refurb came with a nice freebie too -- HD upgraded to 2TB. I don't need all that storage space.

My i5 refurb is scheduled to come in on Friday. Can't wait. Would love a "freebie." 8GB RAM would be a preference over 2TB HDD, but as long as it's in great shape, I will be happy. That 27" screen will be my friend when my wife is watching TV downstairs... :)

My 27" i7 Refurb arrived today it to had a 2TB hitachi hard drive, slight yellowing of screen bottom right, but I think i will be keeping it.
Runs a little hotter than my white imac 24" but all in all I am delighted. Not a mark on it I might add.

Yesterday, I received my 27" i7 Refurb as well. No surprise upgrades unfortunately :( However the machine looked brand new. Started it up, no dead pixels that I can notice and no noticeable noise from drive or screen.

I noticed slight yellow at bottom of screen but can only really notice it on white background and have to pay attention to it. I've also noted that it seems to change depending on at what angle your looking. I'm gonna see how it goes but it doesn't seem to be a big deal.

Strangely, my second monitor (22" Samsung bought quite cheap) looks much yellower in comparison to the LED 27" beauty! So I tried tweaking the calibration a bit to improve its whiteness.

It took all night to transfer to my new mac but result is great (feels like my mac again). I haven't had time to play with it much, but first impression is pretty positive for now! :D
