We have an older plan, $99 a month unlimited... and it's a Business account.

We called, and we can't activate it because it's not a personal account.

What do we do? If I absolutely can't use it, can I return it without a restock fee?

Thank you,
Kenny

If it's not opened, yeah you can return it without a restocking fee. If it is, I think the restocking fee is 10%. But you only have 14 days from the day you purchased it to return it.

I had the same problem. I sucked it up and converted to a personal plan with less minutes. Either way, you must have a personal plan to use iPhone. The new plan comes into play when you have a plan that isn't currently offered by at&t.
A lot of people had this problem. There are threads in this forum but most posts are from June/early July so you'd have to hunt to find them.

what ever you do, dont open the box and hold it in your hand. Because if you do, its not going back to where ever you bought it from. If i were you i would activate it.

you can either cancel the business account or return the iPhone. You will get a restocking fee, as since it is opened they can not resell it as new. I would just take the cancelation it and get the personal account.

So, you're suggesting I cancel my $99/month unlimited everything plan, so that I could get charged a ******** of money for one of their newer plans, just to use a phone? I'm sorry, I just don't see the logic there.

Thanks for your help everyone.

And until you use the phone you won't see the logic. Use it and you'll understand. But if you want to keep your old plan, take the iPhone back.

I've used another iPhone, they're nice... but, is it worth another $100-$200 more a month, to use the phone?

I'd say no, it isn't.

(Which is the conclusion most sane folks would come to, I think)

For me, using an iPhone will run me $20/mo more than what I was paying for cell service with no internet and texts included.. so for me it is really a better deal. Sorry that it isn't that way for you :)

oohh thats a tough one. I really like my iphone, but i dont know if its worth $100-$200 a month, thats a whole lot of money. I would say its worth it if your going to take full advantage of all its features, ipod, use it to replace your laptop when possible, use it to check stocks, thing of that sort. But if your not going to take full advantage of all that its capable of i would say no, its not worth $100-$200 a month. Think of what you can buy with all that cash.

It's only costing 10 more per mo. Sure my plan had 900 unlimited min a mo and this one has 700...but I had 9000+ RO so it's not like I needed the minutes - tho I DO use more now...(grin). Both plans had 3 people on it. For an extra $20, the minutes go up to 1400. Not bad. Of course I don't text much. Cost is just over $100 per mo with three accounts.

Well, you're gonna lose the plan eventually anyway.

You pay $99 for some sweetheart plan. Another $120 EXTRA (for a total of $219) gets you 6000 minutes and unlimited data. If you really use that much capacity, well, I guess you're stuck.

Oh yeah, another thing - Due to visual VM, I actually get messages (love it, love it, love it - would pay the 600 just for that!). That feature is making me more efficient and I'm making more money as a result so the expense is actually less....well, the profit is more - same difference. More money in my pocket.
