Give us an update in about a week. At first I really liked Windows Phone. Its fast, fluid and was new which was nice. Then I found out the sub par browser (wouldn't think so being IE), lack of apps and more. I think Microsoft is going in the right direction but they have a ways to go.

Congratulations! What brought you to purchasing the 830?

I needed a new phone I had the moto G 2014 for about a year now and it was time too get a new phone

I all so like the long battery life Nokia phones have At day's end the moto G 2014 was down too 25% or even lower so it was time for a new phone plus I did not really care about android 5.0 lollipop

So I went with the Nokia 830

I don't mind the lack of apps the only apps I really used is Facebook Facebook messager and Twitter and my Wells Fargo app am not really a gamer on a window phone so the Nokia 830 is this the right phone for me

Canada is my city
I hope you enjoy your new phone!

I personally don't like WP because of the lack of apps, I use my Moto G 1st generation and I think it's great. I agree about the battery issue though, although it's not too bad for me.

Same feelings here after getting the Lumia 635 yesterday. IE is just awful. UC Browser is better but it still crashes. Stream from YouTube and DailyMotion and it still boots me out.

This is my 2nd stint with WP after 3 years. The last was with the Samsung Focus on Mango 7.5. Even with some improvements like Cortana, Bluetooth transfer (from 7.8), notification shade, and multi-task bar, I still find WP8.1 a bit underwhelming. It doesn't have apps like QuickPic that can organize my photos and videos much better. I have to use Files to find it easier. I can't scrob to fast forward or rewind. Doesn't have SwiftKey, Yahoo Sports, Lazy Swipe, or any gesture swiping shortcuts. The Google service apps is still pathetic and will remain pathetic. I can't figure out my actual SOT from any battery saver app. I can't customize the toggles on the notification shade like adding a flashlight. They have Viber which is awful compared to the Android version. They have video downloaders like TubeMate but barely works most of ths time.

Android may always be my #1. Back in 2012, it went from the least favorite to my daily driver. I am just too comfortable and familiar on how to use it. WP is the most modern-looking mobile OS with the least amount of functionality and useful apps. I may only keep this 635 as cheap media player and backup smartphone because of its excellent battery life. But once I get bored with it, I will hand if down to my Stepdaughter who seems to lose her phone twice a year. A better spec Android will be next on my list.

Honestly, did you just use google service apps as a downer on a non android phone?

Congrats! Enjoy it! :)

Indeed, the problem though is that this is the same statement we've been hearing WRT Windows Phone for the last 4years now, 'going the right direction BUT x,y,z.'

I got tired of waiting, late last year I thought we would see a Lumia 1520 replacement but nah, and we're still waiting for a 1020 replacement, while the 930 was rather average, I feel like WP is going nowhere slowly.

I'd put the 930 against any phone out there right now in terms of camea, speed of the actual phone, and screen.

Even after nearly THREE YEARS returning to WP from 7.5 to 8.1, I still haven't felt their app store has changed all that much. A few cosmetic changes here and there but nothing like from iOS6 to iOS7 or KitKat to Lollipop. I still like the design. I still like the optimization. Cool transition effects. Smooth. Less resource hungry than Android. But it still feels it isn't enough.

Perhaps the most modern-looking mobile OS is the one lagging....behind in features and apps. We will see if Windows 10 corrects all the browser issues, but the lack of apps still hurts Microsoft at the end. If you want to browse or stream from YouTube, IE and other apps on 8.1 is terrible right now. Expect crash after crash.

I really like WP but I returned back to the iPhone fold when the IP6+ was released.

One huge disappointment for me was the web browser, MS with its IE on the desktop had imo a poor product for WP. I couldn't access the sites I needed to for work on my phone - that was a huge issue for me.

I didn't think I needed the apps, I researched and did my homework but after returning back to iOS I noticed I really did miss the app selection.

I may go back to windows phone platform because I really do like the UI but for now I'll stick with the IP6+

I am tempted from time to time to see if I can pick up a cheap WP phone on swappa though :D
