As I had previously mentioned in this thread, I had damaged the iPhone screen as I spilled milk on it. So I ordered this screen, outer glass from eBay in order to replace the screen. It contained two items- the outer glass and the screen. The problem now I have is I m not sure if the new screen contains the multitouch part or not. It seems like it doesnt.

Now what should I do? I got both the screen and the outer glass. I know I dont have the multi touch part. Can I just remove the current screen and just add the new one to my old glass? I wont do it myself. I`ll pay a mobile engineer to do it.

Someone please tell me if that wud work? Should I give it a try or is it too much of a risk. I really want my iPhone screen to be as good as it used to be. Browsing on this damaged screen is such a pain.

I'm pretty sure that mobile engineer should be able to help you. If that touch portion isn't damage... you should be fine to use it again.

If thats true than you`ve made my day. But I still doubt it. I dont even know where is that touch sensitive part. AFAIK it somewhere between the screen and the outer glass and all three are glued together. From what I`ve read it seems they are inseparable.

I really do want my iPhone screen back as normal. But what I m afraid of is that the current screen, glass, digitizer might all go kaput if I try to separate the digitizer and the screen. Can someone please confirm if it possible. I`d give it a shot even if the chances of success are less than 50%. Has it been ever done successfully? Even once?

I know it`s possible (though very difficult) to remove the outer glass and replace it with a new one. But is it possible to remove the screen only and not damage the digitizer?

Well I searched everywhere and in the end I m convinced that it cant be done. You might be lucky and be able to remove the the outer glass and replace it without damaging the digitizer with bout 30-50% chances of success. That too assuming you get an expert to get the job done.

But as far as the screen is concerned it`s next to impossible to separate the digitizer and the screen. I found one person claiming he did it without damaging anything but thats it. Everyone else damaged their iPhone trying to separate the two.

So I m not going to try it as the iPhone works absolutely fine except for those spots. I have already wasted 60$ in getting that replacement screen. If I damage the digitizer in the process then I`ll have no option but to get the complete screen, digitizer, glass panel for bout 170$. So I think I`ll pass on this and use it as it is.:(
