Got this e-mail today from this e-mail (sec@areainc.com);

Mail server report.

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).


Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably.
After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail
addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

Kinda scary and tempting you to install the attached file doesn't it?
The only thing is that I don't run Windows, so it has to be dodgy.

People who install software sent to them from an unknown email address like this get what is coming to them. Come on it's not even proper english.

We've received a couple of these emails recently, very close call. Don't assume most users know what to do. Interestingly the two emails we've received were from 'sec@......', but different domains.

I remember sitting in class one day, we had a substitute teacher. Her son was in the class so and she whispers to him "Come over here!" She proceeded to explain to him that she had gotten an email from Microsoft and if they helped test a software they would get a $300 check in the mail. She didn't take kindly when I informed her it was a scam and told me to do my work because I didn't know what I was talking about.Ignore the computer nerd with the laptop in a public high school fine. People are stupid.
