Hi there!

My first thread... Hi I'm Ducmac from Switzerland :) So far the nice part.

Yesterday I've got my 20"iMac w. Wireless Keyboard and my personalized iPod. Beside that my car broke when I had to go picking my things up, both my iMac and iPod are already damaged. On the screen of my iMac on a black background you can see a quite big "circle" of purple pixels right in the middle of the screen. And if you touch my personalized iPod nano makes a clicking / cracking noise every time you press the surface a little.

Do you think I can give my iMac and my iPod back and Apple will replace it? I really don't what to have them repaired. I bought my stuff and I didn't use both of them. Is it a problem that both iMac and iPod are personalized?

Thanks for your help!

All the best from Switzerland

Ducmac

btw. yesterday really wasn't my day...

You didn't say where you picked them up or whom you bought them from. But if they were purchased from Apple or an authorized reseller, they are responsible for repairing any defects.

I bought them through the Apple Online Store. I just had to pick them up because I wasn't at home when TNT arrived.

Well actually I don't want them to be repaired, so the only option for me are replacements or refunds. And here my concerns start because my stuff is personalized. Does Apple do refund or replacements on a personalized iMac (Wireless Keyboard) and iPod (engraving)?

Regarding my pixel error: I only have them on an all black background (255,255,255). Not on white(0,0,0), red(255,0,0), green (0,255,0) or blue (0,0,255). How can this be?

Best Regards

Don't worry about it Ducmac. The fact that you had the ipod personalised is not a problem... you paid for a perfect personalised ipod which they have yet to supply you with.

In my experience Apple are very good with this kind of thing.

I can't remember exactly who I called when my ibook was duff from the start (apple online store) presumably Apple Care. Give them a ring and they'll at lest be able to tell you who you need to call. With my iBook they picked it up and sent me a new one. I still have it.

It's generally up to the manufacturer to decide if they will repair or replace a defective item. Give Apple a call.
