Jobs mentioned compass and accelerometer, but did he mention specifically if this device will have GPS built in? Or does it simply use towers to guess it's location?

Does the A-GPS work on the iPhones without a a data plan? Or does it have to send data to some servers out on the internet?

There's no need for a data plan for the iPhone GPS to work. However, you will need one if you want to use Google Maps without wifi.

I was watching Jobs' keynote, and when he was showing the Maps App notice the exact gps triangulation, and the lack of the black strip. Is Steve Jobs hosing us or maybe they plan to add this feature toward the end? Maybe to keep competitors from doing it?

His was either using WiFi triangulation, or the demo version had the GPS coordinates prefixed, as they knew exactly where it had to show ahead of time

This was definitely the GPS triangulation. And if the latter is true doesn't that constitute false advertising. Also Apple showing Flash on the device? That should be against the law.

GPS on 3G model only

To clarify. If you want GPS - you must buy the version with 3G. With that device, you can get GPS coordinates but you will only get Google maps if you have a data plan and connection.
