Just found this post on the upcoming Apps thread (Post 88).
"Just want to give a heads up on something I am starting development on.
I am beginning work on a tool that can be used by runners and bikers. It will require an iPhone 3G being that it will use GPS. It will be a drain on the battery being that it will keep the GPS connected at all times while the app is running.
The purpose of the app will be to keep track of data in your run or bike. Things like total distance, total time, average pace, lap distance and lap pace. I then hope to make the data exportable (via e-mail) in a .xls/.csv format for easy import into a training log in Numbers/Excel.
I hope to input audio alerts for user definable distances (such as 1/4mi, 1/2mi 1mi etc.) Later versions I hope to add metric measurements.
I believe this app will take me about a month, so expect to see it right around the kick for winter marathon training. Any suggestions or help is always appreciated, feel free to email me at

Looks like we could have some added features to the GPS in the coming months. Im only just starting to get my head round how important the App store is and it looks like it is only going to get better as time goes by.
