I also bought it, and I am very enthusiastic about it. I will play a bit more and then post a review on the App Store site.

The thing i like most is that I can collect waypoint now and then while walking, I do not have to be tracking continuously, and thus drain the battery.

I intend to use it to track my daily walks on my walk to Santiago de Compostella next year!

One thing that surprises me is that it takes soo long to get a GPS reading, when the built-in Maps snaps the location in a few seconds. Is the GPSKit more picky with accuracy maybe?

So far, I also not been able to receive a mail with the waypoints, although it looks like it is being sent OK. Strange...

And what is Quick View??

This is one amazing app everyone should get this..... it completes the GPS on the phone

I know this thread is old but just trying to get the buzz going on this app.

Like you I am not the dev just a very big fan and beta tester of the app. And they have some killer features in the works, as well as a great Easter Egg in the current release. I am waiting for the dev to give me the go ahead on posting about how to enable these features on the web as he has only specified that he doesn't mind if I tell people verbally, maybe I should just do it in an audio clip.

indeed, why post in just one thread for an app when you can post in three(!)

Wait r u mad at me for posting in all the other thread titled exactly the same - cause I used the search and normally I don't and then people get mad at me. Or are you mad at there being 3 threads wig the exact same name and content?

i'm not mad at all, sorry, i should have prob used the  instead, didnt read the title of the emoticon. just found it amusing to see three threads of the same title all pushed to the top, sorry if i seemed cross! ;) x

No problem! Do you have GPS Kit? Or just saw 3 with the same title?

Can an admin merge the 3 threads?

Will you stop digging up EVERY old thread about this app? P.S. GPSKit is definitely NOT worth the money, Wish I could get my money back, but live and learn .. MotionX GPS is by far the better choice at a fraction of the cost.

Haha!! I guess the Goat got Mad!!! If you knew anything you would have said that about any other app- Motion-X is the worst of all the gps apps- well unless your just looking for something simple and basic then Mition-X is for you.

Hey but it your keep replying then we can keep this one alive along with the others you post in!

can you explain how the caching works? im pretty lost on it. i went hiking and camping this past weekend and i had zero service the entire time. would i be able to download the topos for the entire area before i lost reception and just access them normally?

Sounds like you're a dev for GPSKit or sleeping with one of them, since you have dug up several old threads of that app.

I have no affiliation with either and I can tell you as an avid fan of anything GPS, that GPSKit is nowhere near the quality of MotionX.

But enjoy your fantasy world.

No problem!! Just make sure you have the newest version 3.2. So if you are at home or anywhere with service, best to have a good connection to save time. Just browse the place you will be going and then they are in the cache you will not need service to see the maps that you have already seen on the screen previously.

Hope that helps it is rather simple if you have seen the map then it is in your cache till you clear it out.

I like to zoom around at a distant zoom level then go in close and just pan around. that way I get the area and multiple zoom levels.

Any other questions I have most of the answers - Many people don't know about the upload web space provided on the developer site - Just go to tracks and click download tracks then the first thing should say send upload link, send that to yourself then go on the computer and you an upload a slew of your own tracks!

Yeah ok you got me, I used the search feature on the forum and thought it would be help full to post on each of them as they all ended with a slightly different dilemma. Last time I use the search, I guess I will just start a new one.
I don't sleep with any of them I am beta testing for them but only cause I found it to be the best due to the fact that they use Google Maps and not Open source crap, Google Topo is by far the best topo ever produced. And they don't make the UI impossible to navigate. Don't get me wrong Motion-X was probable the best about 5 months ago or so but without uploading GPX files and open source maps they just can't cut it. And yes GPS Kit Sucked for awhile but the dev's have really made it superior to anything else.
Motion-X won't even let you upload a track to the app, please correct me if I am wrong but there is no documentation of uploading nor have I been able to find the feature on the app. I am by no mean trying to bash Motion-X cause it works for what they claim it will do it will do but I find it to be more of an average GPS app with a Great UI, that just lacks a few of the key feature needed for a full fledge Garmin replacement.
Either way I am done fighting with you - but you may want to try the Easter Egg out when you get a second it is a rather cool feature even if you delete it right after.

How did you find the easter egg? I googled it but didn't get anywhere...

Yeah you can't Google it just yet cause I haven't posted it, therefore it doesn't exist - I have it all written but I was hoping the dev would give me the go ahead on posting it.

hear hear! love MotionX although i'd prefer it to use a more traditional 'iPhone app' layout and colours, brilliant tool though, and cheap!

I admit it is cheaper but only because it lacks a few essential features to compete with a dedicated GPS, but yeah 7 dollars is a lot of money, ok maybe not but it is if you don't have a job.
Hey not sure but can Motion X give you the live location of your friends, so that you can chat with them in the app and see how fast they are running, hiking, or whatever?
