iPhone GPS on iPhone 6S intermittent with 11.4.1

I use several apps for tracking hikes. My iPhone 6s has been brilliant at this until upgrading to 11.4.1. Now the dreaded GPS problem that seems to plague iPhone 8 and later seems to have migrated to my iPhone 6s. I’ve reset network settings, validated location services settings, switched airplane mode on and off, done hard reset and then restart. Problem remains. I wonder if a an attempt at fixing GPS issues has created this problem. I doubt Apple will fix anything on iPhone 6, but this leaves me with no path forward. I can’t use my iphone6,and the newer iPhones GPS doesn’t work. Bugger!
