I’m running into a problem in which my position in Apple maps does not advance from the point in which I start from. Google maps advances very slowly way behind where I presently am. Any one else experience this and any solutions besides trying to reboot the phone while on the road?

Which phone are you on? I have experienced it to a degree on approach to junctions, especially the roundabouts, when the car would be a bit ahead of the marker on the map. I use Waze on iPhone 7 running 11.0.2. It is not a major lag behind, however. This problem was not as noticeable for me during the iOS beta testing period on iPhone SE, so I am not sure whether it is a “universal” 11.0.2 bug, or something related to specific iPhone models.

It’s an iPhone 6 on 11.02. The location does not change at all on Apple maps. Though moving the phone around causes the compass reading to go wacky. Google maps is at least a mile if not more behind. Saw this at one point during the early betas as well, went away but seems it’s back.

Since updating my iPhone 6s to iOS 11 I have noticed some strange behaviour when using the TomTom Go car navigation app. The vehicle speed indicator seems to be much more erratic then before. It's as if the GPS location isn't updating as frequently or as regularly anymore.
Of course this could be a bug in the TomTom app, but having read the posts above I'm not so sure.
