Hi,

Is it possible to use an ipad air 2 WIFI as GPS ? I'm going to another country and won't have internet access

I'm going to use a gps app which you can download map for "offline" traveling (like navmii).

Possible or not ? thanks

No, there is no GPS chip in the WiFi only models. You would need an cellular model to use satnav.

The wiFi model will give you an approximate location based on any local WiFi access points but it's not enough to use as SatNav. It's only really good for showing a rough position in towns etc.

Only the LTE model has a GPS chip but a WiFi-only model can determine location from local WiFi nodes but it sounds like you'll be in an area where that's not possible. There are Bluetooth GPS receivers out there that you could use with your Air 2 --

Yes, works fine. Data plan is not needed.

I use the Garmin GLO with my iPod touch, it would work fine with an iPad Air 2.

I use the Garmin GLO with my iPod touch, it would work fine with an iPad Air 2.

I like the idea that you can get into the GLO and replace the battery (much like I recently did with my Garmin nuvi 3590) - it's irritating to have to replace a unit when the rechargeable battery goes bad.
