I'm trying to find a GPS app that I can use whilst traveling in India for the next 6-8 months...any suggestions? (will be on a local Airtel number)

Cheers

what kind of gps app? mobile internet is cheap and google maps has good coverage of india.

if you want turn by turn, there isn't one that i'm aware of, but there are number of apps that will simply record your current position, heading, etc...

I was looking for turn by turn, the problem with GPRS in India is that you pay a huge (for India) rental, get a small data allowance and pay per kb usage...works out expensive for anything other than email...

well, i guess it depends on what you're used to, but i think $20 a month for unlimited internet is a good deal. i wish it were available in australia.

a quick search didn't turn up any turn by turn apps. a couple of offline maps.

In the states I'm paying $30 a month for internet ... but between no pay, a bunch of photo equipment and almost a years worth of traveling to pay for I'm going to be pinching pennies.

edit 20 bucks unltd net? which carrier?
