What's the best GPS app out there that will track where you biked/ran?

I've seen a couple on the App Store, Runner, Track my path, but i don't know whether or not to get one of them.

Thanks

Dan

I don't use these apps anymore. I used to and tried a fair few of them out: iMapMyRun was very buggy and unreliable, Distance Meter Pro was good but prone to crashing on occasion, EveryTrail was too limited, and other I tried had one or more of these same disadvantages, can't remeber right now the names of them all.

In the end I found Trails. By far superior to ther others in terms of both relaibility/stability and features. Works well syncing with TrailRunnerX on the Mac if you have one. I'd recommend it. I no longer use it as I was finding i too much of a distraction whilst running/cycling, so I went back to just using my Suunto hrm.

Runkeeper is definitely the best. I have used it many times. They have an awesome web application for reviewing all your runs.

Out of curiosity, what state does the phone need to be in for this to work. I assume the app needs to be running throughout, but can the phone be in sleep mode? What happens if a call comes in - does it still remember where you were?

The app obviously needs to be running but you can use the top-lock to switch off the screen and it will still log, and the GPS will still work. (Apparently - I have only just d/l this and am yet to use in anger, but got this info from their pretty good forum) There are several reports of good battery life this way. Best to have Bluetooth off, and wifi, along with Push notifications as well.

Have a look at TrackMyTour which is free and the sample tour that is used on the web site is a bike tour in France. Seems to work well and has an update submitted that will include photos in a capture and send Twitter messages when updated.

I am stuck between run keeper and runner.

I have both, and have used both. They are both very very good.
I like the simplicity of both, and how you can view the map. One thing that I like about runner is how you can set how far/how much time you want to run, and then you can have different times for it to notify you, such as every half mile, every 5 minutes, etc. It also tells you your eta, average speed, total height, speed at that moment. One thing I want to see in an update is the ability to see more info such as your time per mile/half mile, average mile, be able to set a pace, and have it tell you whether or not your on it.

RunKeeper Pro has voice feedback too...

And you can use the top lock button to extend battery life as it turns the backlight off.

I use the cyclometer app B.iCycle. It's a bit expensice but very stable and precise for distance, speed and calorie calculation. Plus it offers an altimeter and a map including bike trails that moves along automatically while you are biking.

Anyone want to share KML or GPX files of their coolest or longest rides?
