Is their anyway to tether my iPhone to my mac to access the GPS hardware, using it as a GPS dongle to provide me with my GPS co-ordinates?

If you're just looking for GPS Coordinates there is an app called Motion-X GPS that will show you your lon/lat and altitute numbers. I'm sure there are others out there too.

Ye I want co-ordinates but I want them on my Macbook so that I can accurately plot my location to the desktop google earth or to a couple of over GPS applications. The idea is that when I'm out doing field work I can record my data but also the position automatically. I know this can be done with Garmin GPS's and I'm not overly keen to buy a new GPS device when I always have one on me in my iPhone. Any jailbreak hacks that can let me do this?
