I know rx 580 suppose to work. I’m having hard time finding the card locally that’s not gonna cost an arm and a leg. I see some rx 460 for an affordable price. Found list says metal compatable but same list said wx3100 was too and it didn’t work. Then I read in forums saying it was not. Help suggestions would be great at this time.

I had a Gigabyte RX460 for a few months way back when they were still current. Worked fine, though slow. Cant speak for how well it works in newer versions of MacOS though.

"Downgraded" back to a 7970 for a year or so until I found a used RX580 for cheap.

I have also tried the W7000, R9-280, 7950, RX570, RX480, GTX680, and Vega 56. All worked fine except for some occasional issues with Finder on the GTX680.

The RX 460 works. I've used one in an eGPU.
Also RX 460 is Baffin, same as a WX4100 but with fewer compute units. In contrast the WX3100 is Lexa, unsupported.
