Anyone else disappointed with the new "view" option coming to GPush? I have no problem closing the pop up and going to mail app to view my messages.

With the new push option for Gmail I use GPush only for notifications. Problem now is that when the screen is locked and I slide to unlock it takes me to the GPush app and I then have to close that and then to go mail app.

can you configure this in your push settings either for the phone or somewhere in the app? So you want additional alerts on top of the badge and sound that the phone already offers, which is why you're using this app? For the alert pop ups?

Agreed. Program is now more trouble than it's worth, I do not want to be taken into the program when I unlock my phone. Restoring from backup now, hopefully my Gpush won't have been updated.

+1 I hate how it sends me to the gpush app unlike before. Plus the update says: "now you can choose sounds" & "new icons". What are they talking about and where are these settings?? This program just went down the drain, I hope they fix it FAST!:(

(cough)

pushgmail - option to open web based gmail(just perfect for reading) or the actual mail app (with a workaround) .99

or mail notifier - offers more then just gmail, AOL and Hotmail $4.99

both very nice.

Along those lines, I love PushGmail. It also opens into the mail app if you select to (you can also close the notification), but it seems more fluid.

I agree- I HATE being taken into the web-gmail page. Why in the world would they assume that most people would want this. There is a native mail app already on the phone!

The functionality prior to the 'upgrade' was about perfect. They really need to make this a user pref. I'm going to check out other options this weekend.

Just deleted Gpush. WIll maybe reinstall if this issue gets fixed, but for the time being I can't deal with having the program auto-load every time I unlock my phone.

It would be nice if I could get real push Gmail with push notifications. halfway there with this week's update.

I thought I was going out of my mind when this started happening. Now I see that this isn't the case. How does Gmail's free option for push fare? I'd ideally like something that has no delay with notifications. That's all I ask for and oh, options to turn sound off. Almost forgot about this one.

Tiverias Apps Response

Apple approved a new version of GPush and some users have voiced concern over the view icon, which launches the app when swiping open the iPhone from sleep mode. Please note this is a limitation in the iPhone OS. To resolve this issue, we beta tested a new version allowing you to opt-out of the ability to view email from the notification. This will have the effect that if a notification is on the standby screen, GPush will not launch when you swipe open the iPhone. For those who would like to continue viewing emails from the notification, you now have the choice of launching the gmail client inside the app or the mail app itself. The mail app will display “compose message” page, once again based on the limitations in the iPhone OS. This update will support viewing capabilities for Google Domain users as well

New features in upcoming update include:
• Quiet Hours
• Viewing support for Google Domains
• Option to remove View icon, which avoids launching GPush when the iPhone is turned on from standby
• If you would like to view email from notification, you can choose to either launch the Gmail client or the Mail App’s compose new message page

Any update on this? Been checking the appstore for an update.

Not to hijack the thread, but is GPush even working now? I haven't received any notification from GPush for the last few days even though I've been getting mail on my Gmail account. :(

It's been working fine for me. It just notified me of your response to this thread (which I'm subscribed to).

I've had no issues with the app at all. Jus wish I could turn off the auto-load of the gmail web client.

Thanks for the reply.

Hmmm... I wonder what's wrong with my iPhone now. Yahoo! push has not been working for me either. I just reset the phone and tried GPush, but to no avail.

I do get other push notifications...

Mine is not working either. I tried resending my credentials or whatever and that did not work.
