Gradient Banding?

On my Macbook, I am begining to notice some semi-heavy gradient banding. Is this normal, or does my LCD have a defect? I dont do profesional work, but it can get quite annoying some times.

It is normal.

Before you go all berserk about this like so many people seem to have done, consider that pretty much every laptop ever made has this "problem". True 8-bit panels are expensive - they're all 6-bit in laptops. Dell, IBM, HP, Apple, etc.

My 15" PowerBook G4 exhibits the same gradient banding.

I noticed this soon after getting my MB. I do web development work, and find this highly annoying. My iBook didn't have the slightest trace of this problem. I figured this problem came from the low end video card in the MB's.
