Hi, I just noticed that every single gradient in the system looks horrid. Photos won't show the gradient properly, and the shadows of the windows also look bad. I have tried rebooting several times, and it does nothing to fix it.

Does anyone else have this problem? I'm attaching a photo of my desktop where this problem should be obvious. Look at the sky and the shadow around the dock.

Go to System Preferences > Displays > Color. Try to change the color profile to another one.

yuck!

here's what i would do to try to narrow the problem:

try booting into your recovery partition (command+R), and see if shadows and gradients on the recovery screen look any better. if they look ok then the problem would seem limited to your current system partition, and you might have to bite the bullet and backup and reinstall.

if they still look bad on the recovery partition, then it might actually be a graphics card issue that would need servicing at an apple store or something.

hopefully you get some other suggestions, but for the meantime i'd still just pop into recovery mode briefly just to get a sense of the extent of the problem.

I have the same problem! I'm also running Mountain Lion. Have you found a fix for it?
