Hi all,

I'm having really annoying issues with WoW on my MacBook, and it's driving me crazy. When I bought this computer (two and a half years ago), WoW ran pretty decently. Now it's just getting worse and worse to the point where it can be unplayable at times, and certainly is less enjoyable.

My issue is that any amount of stress on the graphics is making my sound skip, and when it gets really bad, the whole computer will "lag" as well. I should add that this almost always happens just when playing WoW, but it has also rarely happened when streaming a TV show or using the iTunes visualizer. The sound issue comes up very frequently, so the sound is almost constantly skipping, with little periodic skips several times a second, and then it usually gradually gets better until something sets it off again.

When I say "lag" for the whole computer, I mean that when it's bad, especially if I minimize and try to browse a website, the computer will freeze sort of in pulses, so that periodically and rapidly my cursor will freeze in place and the keyboard doesn't register keystrokes. This makes trying to do anything remotely strenuous annoying, to say the least.

The problem started earlier this year, initially only occurring when I hearthed or took a port, but it's slowly gotten worse to the point where now I have to run with my graphics turned down all the way *and* in 800x600 (bleh), and even then the sound glitch will trigger for seemingly no reason at all, for something as minor as my character turning around or looking at something mildly shiny like an instance portal.

Please help, this is driving me nuts and I am not enjoying the game as much as I used to. I can hardly remember what playing in a decent resolution looks like!

By the way, this problem persists even though I use few addons and I close all other programs before starting WoW.

Things I've tried:
* Limiting my FPS to 15 FPS (didn't solve the problem)
* Using an application that controls my fan speed (the fan runs higher than the 6000 RPM minimum I set anyway and the computer seems to be at high but normal temperatures…to me it doesn't look like this problem is correlated with temperature but I'm not 100% sure)
* Posting on the WoW technical forum (a GM helped me for a bit but then I couldn't get a hold of him again)

Additional info gleaned from error logs that I can't make heads or tails of, but maybe you can:

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Agreed

I had a similar problem on my macbook (early 2007). I did everything I possibly could, but Apple was either unable or unwilling to help. They told me it was my OS, RAM, and HD and I upgraded them all (on my own dime) to no avail. Finally, they told me they had no idea and gave me a free battery to appease me. Better than nothing, but still terrible support from Apple. Also, my computer experienced the exact same "hard lag" but when it was finished, the sound and video would be permanently choppy and delayed until I restarted the computer or plugged in and then unplugged headphones or speakers. I don't have a solution, but keep dogging Apple until they fix your computer and if they do, send me a message.

Oh yea and I played WoW too
