Graphic card replacement

I'm having issues. From reading the forums, I think it may be the 5770 I put in recently.

Say I were to wait until they update the Mac Pro's. What are the chances they will replace it with the new "standard" card?

Whatever it ends up being....68xx or something.

Given I can walk in and grab a 4870 and thats last gen!

they will most likely use the 6xxx series since the 7xxx is due nowish and we all know apple "prefers" previous gen cards when dealin' with the MP

Most likely zero chance. Apple will replace with what you bought originally. Rarely do they ever "upgrade" anyone. They will give you a HD from 2004 if it was the original model your Mac shipped with and they have to fix something under warranty. They have a very struct "We will not upgrade" policy apparently.
What issues are you having anyway? Or are you already resigned to not wanting to fix it?

It's a 2009 and I bought a 5770 for it. Not long after, my screen starts freezing. The mouse works, I can move the cursor. But you are unable to interact with anything. Not in the program, not in the OS, nothing.

Sometimes there's a spinning beach ball, if I'm lucky.

It used to happen once in a blue moon, but it's getting worse lately.


The 5770 is the last major upgrade I made, since the problem began. I couldn't find too many people with the same problem. But the few threads I did, most people thought it was probably the graphics card.
