New here to the forums...I've recently purchased an iMac. Pardon my ignorance regarding such things, but I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to tell me what are some really good graphic intensive games that my system could handle (and by 'handle', I mean >30fps at 1920x1080 or even native res)...Thanks.

Assuming the iMac in your sig is the one you're questioning about then you should be ok. Do you plan on running boot camp to play games in windows or in OSX only?

The 6970m is the mobile version of a relatively powerful desktop card. You may have to mess with visual settings and resolutions but you should be able to play games like BF3 and the like with decent FPS. Just take a couple min and mess with the settings to get a FPS you're ok with.

Get windows on your mac via bootcamp and fire up the Witcher 2, trust me if you like RPGs you'll love this game. Also for an older benchmark game, try Crysis and Rage just got released on the mac app store so if you don't want to put windows on your imac, try that. Also check out if some of these graphical intensive games run under either wine or Crossover, I'll give you the links. Also steam is on mac, download that and try out Team fortress 2 if you haven't already, its not graphically intensive but its fun and free.

I've got that machine. If you're hoping for 30fps at 1920x1080 then you're going to be sorely disappointed. I get 60fps at 2560x1440 in the games I play (TF2, Left 4 Dead, Rage, MW3, Borderlands).

Yeah. Just throw on Bootcamp and give Crysis and those above mentioned games a whirl. Or stick to OSX, you'll get some performance drop and a smaller library of games.
