I have iMac 11,1 27'' late 2009 I like to change 'RV770/M98L [Mobility Radeon HD 4850]' default graphics card wih Nvidia or Intel graphics card. Is it possible and if it is which one is recomended, please?
Almost one year ago I did change HD with SSD one and it works and I have just FreeBSD on the machine and OS X drivers for graphics are not important for me.

Thank you.

It should answer a lot of the questions that you have.

Just to let you know, replacing the GPU requires the entire logic board to be removed. I have done it once in a Mid 2011, although, I didn't replace the GPU, just baked it in the oven and put new paste and pads on.

You can't swap out the graphics card for another, everything is soldered onto the logic board.
The OP is refering to the Late 2009-Mid 2011 family of iMacs, which has removable/replaceable MXM cards.
