I just installed windows 7 on the new MBP (15" with 9600GT) and I'm having trouble with the aero effects. Basically the system is telling me that I have a "Standard VGA Graphics Adapter" driver version 6.1.7100.0 and that I have 14MB of available graphics memory. Obviously this is wrong.

I've installed the Windows Update stuff and all the drivers from the Apple disc. Any advice?

I thought about installing the driver from the Nvidia website but wanted to pulse the MacRumors braintrust first.

Thanks!

I'm having the same problem, but with the 9400m chip.
Hopefully someone has an answer

Im not sure about the mbp or windows 7 (I have the imac with the 8800 gs running xp) but I am using the drivers from the nvidia website with no problem.

I would try that (but see if windows 7 has a system restore feature like xp does) in case of any snafus. I did see that the nvidia website does list drivers for windows 7.

Also...which version of 7 are you running? And which driver did you install off of the bootcamp disk?

I'm running the 64 bit version of 7. I just put the apple disc in and let it do it's thing. My sound and trackpad work fine, so I'm assuming the apple drivers worked.

I'm about to try the nvidia driver.. we'll see what happens!

Okay, that didn't work. The install stops and says I don't have proper hardware.

Any ideas?

I've successfully installed the proper drivers for my NVIDIA 9400M on Windows 7 64-bit. Although you have a 9400M/9600M GT model, I'm sure this will work the same.

I downloaded the latest driver from LaptopVideo2Go that included an INF file (currently 190.15 is the latest driver available that has an INF file, 190.38 does not).

Download the 190.15 driver and INF file here:

http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/win7x64/190.15/disclaimer

After downloading both files, double click the driver to extract the files (which will create a folder in the same directory as the download). Drop the INF file in the newly created folder (that contains the drivers) and overwrite the old INF file (if asked). Open Setup.exe to install the stuff.

I have absolutely no idea what the INF file is or does, but it was the only way I could get the driver to install :p

Without putting the INF file downloaded from that website into the folder, I'd get a message saying that the driver "Could not find any hardware to update".

I got some problem with those graphics drivers too. Its quite simple actually : With the 185s i get 500mhz gpu clock and 792mhz memory clock at all times (powermizer off), even when i unplug my ac cable. When i install the 186s or 190s, i only get 500/792mhz when my cable is plugged in. When i unplug it, it switches to 393/700...:(
How can i solve that problem ??

P.S. I have a Macbook Pro Mid 2009, 2,8ghz, 512mb geforce 9600m gt, 4gb ram
