A cold cold place.
Hello,

Every time I try to play an older game like Starcraft or Fallout on Leopard, the colors look very off and the graphics look blurry. How can I fix this? (If I put Starcraft in windowed mode, it looks perfectly fine?)

What's the highest resolution they support? What's your monitors resolution? That's probably why. Windowed mode would be the only way to get them to look good.

LCD displays only look their best @ native resolution. I can even tell this in COD4. Fortunately, I can get playable fps on either of my screens at native resolution (either 1920x1200 or 1440x900). Running windowed is probably better if the game is less than 1280x1024 or thereabouts.

How do I find out the native resolution for my 24" iMac 2.16 Core2 duo?

Like everyone else said, its because its being played on an OS 10 years later that has no clue what color is which, because of such old code.

Not exactly... Most likely the game is designed to be run at a display setting of 256 colors... And as far as I know OS X won't support 256 colors. Since Leopard anyway.

That's a bummer... I was planning on picking up the Starcraft Battle Chest sometime... I'd never played the game before and I always head such good things about it!

Starcraft is completely playable on OS X under Leopard, so don't worry about picking it up. I played it earleir this year on my MBP with no issues whatsoever. I think the color thing was either addressed in a patch last year, or it only affects GMA cards.(This GMA issues can be seen for example in Ghost Recon, which can't be played on Full screen on a GMA950 but has no such issues on a dedicated card).

Leopard has the option is Displays Preferences, but it's greyed out. Wouldn't be surprised if it's gone in SL.
