My 2G has started acted weird the last couple days. A couple contiguous gray dots appeared on the upper left corner of the screen. I thought maybe some pixels were going out. Everyday the line changes. It now extends across the entire screen and is starting a second line. At times, the line briefly retreats. Anybody have any ideas what to do?

Thanks greatly!!

Under Applecare? Get it replaced. I had dead pixels that were spreading across the screen on my original iPhone and they replaced it.

No - it's 2 years old now - I bought it pretty much when it first came out.

The fact that parts of the line comes and goes makes me curious. It can't be dead pixels, right? So what else is making this gray line suddenly appear after 2 years?

I just had the same exact thing happen on my iPod Touch a couple of days ago! It started with two horizontal gray lines of pixels at the top of the screen and over time, part of the lines would disappear/reappear and a few more lines appeared. How odd. I already submitted a service request with Apple, so we'll see what happens. My iPod Touch is about 1 year old.
