Am new owner of Mac Mini and new to Lion coming from Windows XP. About every second or third day when I shut down for the night, computer goes to a gray screen and tells me to do a hard power shutdown. Any thoughts as to what is causing this problem? Only change made to computer is upgraded memory and it is checking out OK.

One More Question

I had a program open when I shut down (think it may have been itunes) would this cause the problem? New to Mac and not sure if when you shut down if you have to make sure all apps are closed first to avoid the death screen.

Is everything stock or did you upgrade the ram and / or hard drive?

I had a similar problem with my iMac after I upgraded the memory - it kept giving me Kernel panics. The memory checked out OK, but it clearly wasn't - I removed the new memory and it's been fine ever since

Generally, if you change something and you start getting Kernel Panics (Gray screen of death) then the thing you changed is the most likely culprit...
