grayed-out TM icon?

Why is the Time Machine icon on my menu bar in gray color although its is running?

Is yours grayed out like mine?

Are you connected to ethernet, because you have no WiFi? could be grayed out due to no network, if you use NAS for timemachine.

What does the menu say, if you click on it?

Any message in system prefences->time machine`

Yes i am connected via Ethernet and there is nothing else unusual like a msg.
