I got a great deal on a new core duo 2ghz 15" mbp. $1059!!! I was hesitant to buy an early model but I was unable to resist the price. My local university bookstore is closing out some older models. I am very happy with it. I was concerned about possible heat/mooing issues but so far I haven't had any problems. My serial number is W8636xxxxxx. Is it a week 36 machine? I checked and it has the latest bootrom and SMC versions. I really like the glossy screen too. The display is very bright and makes my 20" intel iMac look rather dull and boring in comparison and my old iBook G4 display seems very dim now. yay!

thanks for looking

Holy smokes that's a good deal. I bought my mbp at a discounted rate (mine is 1.83ghz CD, right when they were bumped to 2ghz) for 1799$ canadian.

Yes you have a week 36 machine, enjoy it!

And here I thought I got a good deal on my new/used MBP 15" from apple.com -- refurbished 2.0ghz CD, 1gb, 100gb, 256mb VRAM. It shipped with the optional 7200 rpm hard drive. But that deal is outstanding, wkw.
