One idea that I think would be really sweet if they added into the notification menu is a sports ticker. It would be similar to the stocks app where it moves across the screen and you can select your favorite teams so that it only shows the ones that you care about. It could also be similar to what they have on the bottom of ESPN. What do you guys think?

Yeah, that would be really great idea, but the point is, who will tell them to do so? We need to have some heavy voice over this to take this issue to their ears.

Well, this and pretty much any other notification widget you can imagine would be possible if Apple let us customize the notification centre & download widgets for it off the App Store.

I probably will too at some point (I practiced on an old iPod Touch 3rd gen and it doesn't seem too hard). Stuff like having to go into the settings to toggle WiFi, mobile data and airplane mode is starting to get annoying.

Yes, I would love for them to add widgets and allow companies to come up with their own ideas for great widgets. I think it would work very well.

Notification Center API for third-party developers.

If iOs 6 has this, then we could get a healthy choice of widgets.

I wouldn't be surprised. It would follow the pattern that apps did: Apple-only at first, but opened to 3rd parties in the next major release.

If so, probably with very limited capabilities and an extra strict approval process. Or maybe just updatable app icons. I think they'll at least add more first party widgets.

Anything will be better than what they've got now.
