My MBP of 3.5 years died Thursday, so I had to make the quick decision on what computer to get next. I had been thinking iMac because of the extra power per dollar you get and since I don't need portables as much with my iPhone and lack of job functions needing one.
So far, I'm impressed. I went with the $1199 model out of the box at Best Buy. I didn't want to go through Apple because I would only get 12 months financing and need a new credit card. This way I also get Reward Zone points. Bonus!
Just got everything up and running from a Time Machine backup. I don't know what I think about the new wireless keyboard. I still have the larger wireless keyboards before Apple outlawed keys thicker than a quarter. But I'm giving this new one a go and at worse would use it some day when I get an iPad. It's a very weird transition, but I'm going to try. I now also have TWO magic mice, which is bad because I don't know where to use the extra one. My dad got one, and I don't really know anybody else who would use one. Part of me is thinking about selling it on eBay, but another part wants to wait until my company's big hardware upgrade to make sure we get magic mice.
I've been working on a MBP in clamshell mode with an external monitor most of the past 3.5 years, so any tidbits of info I can get? I can't wait to get more movies done faster in iMovie after the speed at which I ripped some movies using HandBrake.
Glad to be part of the club. Now someone just drop me $2,000 so I can join the iPad and MacBook Air clubs!
