Grey apple logo instead of blue?

I was at an apple store this weekend and I noticed that one of the imacs had a grey apple logo in the upper left instead of a blue one. What gives?

It's a setting you can choose yourself – take a look in System Preferences/Appearance and you'll see an option called 'Appearance'. This allows you to switch between an Aqua and Graphite look for your Mac.

Probably triggered by the default desktop background image....

When you use graphite instead of blue, does the Finder icon in the dock turn greyscale as well?

I recently noticed mine is, and it doesn't change when I go to blue, and I have no idea how long it's been that way haha

Nope it does not, it requires a bit of massaging to change your Finder icon, with something like Candybar.

No, my Finder icon is and has always been (to my knowledge) the two shades of blue, regardless of whether I'm using the "Blue" or "Graphite" appearance.

Hmm... as far as I was aware the Finder icon remained blue regardless of if you have the blue colour scheme in use or not. Have you changed the icon with an app like CandyBar? That could maybe explain it.

Its really sad that default folders' color doesnt change when switching OS "styles" Grey folders as well as grey finder icon in the dock would be nice

Mine goes grey when I switch to graphite, but when i switch back to blue it comes back to color.

CandyBar won't change the Menu Bar Apple logo – though you could always look at an app like ShapeShifter and find a theme you like with different coloured Apples. There may also be a way to change its colour by messing about with some of the files buried away in the deep, dark depths of your hard drive, but I've never tried that myself so I couldn't advise you on that.
