Well iTunes just decided it no longer likes my iPod. Whenever I plugged it in the system would hang force quitting wouldn't even work. I tried reinstalling iTunes to no avail. So I figured I'd just do a fresh install. I formatted and everything went well until the reboot after the 10.4.5 update... now the sytem hangs at the Apple logo no spinning wheel, nothing. Now since the iMac doesn't have a button to open the CD tray I can't boot from the DVD.

I have a project I need to do this weekend in GarageBand... Any ideas?

Turn it off, hold mouse button, turn it on. CD should pop out, and then put in your OS X cd and then turn it off and then hold C and then turn it on.

I think that should do it. If it doesnt' working with holding C, just try it normally. (with the CD still in)

sorry for the typing im in a rush

Does the iPod work normally when not plugged into the machine? I'm just trying to work out if the problems are related.

Were you running normally (apart from iTunes crashing) on 10.4.5 beforehand or were you using an earlier version of Tiger? :)

Check for errors. Put in the OSX disk and boot from it (hold C down while booting). Then select disk utility from the top menu and do a check for errors. Sorry, I cannot be more specific but that should be enough clues to get you to the right place.
