Griffin AutoPilot and 2G iPod Touch with Dock

I recently got a Griffin AutoPilot and it will NOT work with my iPod when it is connected to my universal dock. It WILL work if I plug it into the iPod directly though. I am very annoyed that it will not work while the iPod is in the dock. Am I doing something wrong?
