Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Samsung are manufacturing it according to that report - so maybe they are sabotaging it so their exynos remains preferential. ;)

Some on this site would fully believe that! Then again looking at what VW has done to its engines nothing that a corporation does surprises me.

But I would wait till the 820 2.1 version before I believe it maybe doesn't overheat as much haha.

They can't afford another "toasty" chip. It would ruin their credibility and ability to compete.

Then again, it would give other companies such as MediaTek an advantage over them, which might not be a bad thing. The more competition, the better.

Samsung is just manufacturing it, and some reports indicate that they may be lending their expertise to remedy the problem....far from sabotaging the design.

Anyway, Qualcomm deigned the chip. If it overheats, its due to poor design.

Yeah that doesn't sound too good. Sony actually tried the heatpipe afaik. I don't know if the Sony Z5 Compact had it but it certainly didn't help do anything except make a much larger portion of the phone warm.

I would've loved to get the Oneplus Two but I don't want to touch anything with a 810 in it after the Z5C issues I had. There doesn't seem to be a single 810 chip phone that doesn't either get hot or at least warm. Despite the cold Finnish winters I don't want my phone warming my fingers just from 20 minutes of web browsing.

LOL.....ahh c'mon.......that's a dual purpose device. It is a communication device and a hand warmer. Especially in Finland :)

I'm not an expert on chips.

Now, fish and chips is a different matter.

That's more an overeating problem, not overheating.

Yeah I bought the Z5 Compact and returned it immediately, it genuinely got very hot.

The Nexus 6P is supposed to be just fine with the 810, though.

I'm tired and just skimmed the thread. If I had realized you posted it, then yeah I would have realized. Unfortunately, such comments are often serious on this forum, but with you I should have known better. Just didn't look at the user name.

Lol - no bother. I'm full of flu and half drugged on paracetamol so the reverse could have easily been the case :D :)

I'd be really surprised if they didn't get this sorted by launch. One more chip with issues, and they may be done.

Haven't seen any significant criticism of this issue on the Nexus 6P. If there is one device I want it to work properly, it's the 6P.

Apparently it does throttle on the Nexus 6P but not significantly to impact performance too noticeably in everyday use. But it is demonstrable in benchmark situations.

Heck the 808 in the Moto X Style gets quite toasty. Maybe Qualcomm need to start advertising hot as the new cold :D

They need to advertise in the colder climates that it doubles and hand/pocket warmer! :)

Had a good laugh partly cause in this forum, there are people who will take this seriously, its the same people who claim Company X are copying Apple, but when Apple do something Company X has been doing for many many years are either quiet or defending it, same people who claim Google is bad and is the only one collecting data, same folks who'll come here and complain about Android security but no backup of users affected by any threat. Lol :D

I pity Qualcomm, this is meant to be their field to own. They can't have two flagship SoCs fail for the same reason. Hopefully Samsung is able to help sort it all out.
