So I guess ever since I upgraded to the 4S or maybe its just iOS5 but my brother in law likes to send texts like crazy and sends it to me and like 10 other people. I receive the other peoples responses to his texts and its really annoying. Is there a way to turn this off?

I've wanted to know this too.

For example, I disabled "group messaging" in settings. Then, I sent a picture to my dad, aunt, and uncle. I did it all in the same message thinking they'd get individual texts. Instead, when my dad received the message, it listed all of the other recipients. This never happened on any of my other non-iPhone devices.

Do us all a favor and put in a call to apple. It's an IOS5 bug. What's most annoying their support teams are acting if the problem don't exist, even though several people have reported it, including myself.

Let us know what they say.

I haven't tested this on my new 4S yet, but on my 4 when I sent to multiple recipients, it would show what I sent in the group message but any reply showed up in their usual sms reply. Is this different on the 4S?

Yes, if someone just hits reply, it replies to everyone.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I think it's a good idea to submit feedback via their website they usually take good notice of submissions through the form.

A while back, people who were excited about their iPhones with iMessage started several group messages using iMessage, forgetting or not knowing how people on different systems would be affected.

It seems that Blackberry OS users in their ever diminishing numbers do not appreciate getting threads of individual SMS where an iPhone user is seeing a very nice group conversation in a single thread.

I am not sure this is a bug or if it is a ploy to get more people to start using iOS.

:)

I confess, however, that I have had to ask people to be sure that their iMessage group threads are all to people who are on iOS 5.0 and up.

bumping this thread up, anyone know how to eliminate receiving messages from the other people who got the same message as well? there has no be a fix this is beyond annoying..
