I have a G4 Powermac running OSX 10.4. I recently bought a second hard disk which I installed (as a secondary disk) in my G4. It is not the start-up disk and does not contain any system files.

No matter what settings I use in my System Preferences, in the Energy Saving window, this second hard disk always spins down after approx 15 min. of non-use. It takes about 30 seconds for it to spin up again, which is REALLY annoying. Note: my computer is NOT sleeping at that time, the screen saver is not turned on, the primary disk is not sleeping. But, as already said, after roughly 15 min of non-use, the second disk spins down, and upon spinning up, the computer freezes for about 30 seconds.

The disk is a Hitachi Dskstar 7K250 (modelnr.: HDS722525VLAT80), 250GB size.
Any suggestions???
thanx

well, i have 'fiddled' with the energy savings settings. But there is not much to fiddle with. The setting 'put harddisks to sleep when possible' is obviously turned off.

What other power management settings can I adjust?

Anybody???
