Gruber / Swartz Markdown should be adopted in all Apple apps

Please Apple, we’d be able to write so much more productive and easily structured in apps like Pages and Notes.

Even slide decks will be created faster in Keynote.

Superfast heading creation etc. is just too powerful to miss out on.

Learning the keyboard shortcuts is more productive (makes writing Markdown even better actually) because only the very basics of it would be worth implementing.

For quick headings, assign shortcuts (F1, F2 etc.) to the Paragraph Styles and List Styles you want to use, and make sure your preferred styles are available in a template. Set up the same shortcuts across Pages and Keynote and you're set.

Thanks for the shortcuts suggestions. I am aware of them.

However, the problem with setting up the headings shortcuts is:

• they need to be set up on a per document basis, so every time a document is created
• they don't work with shared documents (in Pages, Keynote, Numbers)

As far as I know they are not system wide, not even App wide.
Just specific to the one document you are working on.

So a LOT of hassle to set up every time.
Not a very productivity supporting solution.
