Wouldn't it be nice if Rockstar announced they we're releasing GTA IV for Mac? I just played this at a buddies house on his PS3, and man is it amazing.

What do you think the possibility of this happening is.
(i'm bored at work, trying to start a conversation here)

And I think the plan for a mac release is.. never

you're probably right. but you never know... maybe somebody like aspyr will port it to mac... or maybe somebody will find a way to crack the game to make it work on a mac.

i have gta: san andreas running on leopard (not through boot camp or virtualization).

:p

I don't know man. I would imagine there wouldn't be much mac gamer who will have the setup to power that game. They'll do much better releasing it to PC first.

I doubt it'll be ported to the Mac. Hopefully it comes out on Steam though. I didn't really care much for the console versions of GTA IV, but with PC mods it might be pretty damn ace.

Might work with TransGaming Cider engine alright and should be pretty easy to port, but its a pretty hefty game that would need a serious machine not to mention the fact that games using the cider engine take a bit of a performance hit anyway.

Oh, and the fact that no rockstar north titles have ever made it to the mac in any form. Plus they've made so much money already (and a bit more with the PC version when it comes out) that i don't see them putting in the effort unfortunately.

to be honest... macs are still not the ultimate gaming machines... neither the imacs nor the mac pros ... but considering the rising market shares of macs apple might consider some kind of "gaming-mac" in 3-4 years time... maybe some crossover of the current imacs with some design elemnts of alienware systems ... would be nice... an imac with a red or green glowing apple logo and heaps of cooling slots on the back ;)

back to topic: i reckon gta iv will need some kind of heavy duty graphics card so i'll probably have to use my windows-tower :(

None of the GTA has been ported to OSX, but runs on a Mac using bootcamp.

There is also a CIDER version of some GTA (forgot which one or ones) made to run under OSX.

Note to developers, if someone with no budget can port it, then the developers should port it and actually make some money with it.

I thought Max Payne was released for the Mac, no?

Yes Max Payne was released for the Mac, but probably was licensed by a Mac developer and then ported by the developer.

that's piracy...

i honestly don't care what you do but you shouldn't make something like this known to the public. especially since you didn't even just tell everyone, you showed them too.

Well, at least he's not using the leaked alpha build of uTorrent to snag it :p

good for you.

i'm saying it's just plain stupidity to show that in public. especially when the forum you're posting it on clearly states "No Piracy." although i'm pretty sure at least 70% of people in this forum are or had downloaded pirated software, videos, music. but you dont see them posting that in a public forum.

ignorance at its finest i guess. if not ignorance, then apathy... which is also pretty ignorant.

A lot of OS X games are running on a virtual Win XP environment. Until people can start writing code of OS X and not simply wrap it I don't want any. Also GTA IV is pretty weak IMHO.
