Weird. It says it was released on Aug 4, but I looked at all that day's apps before and I don't remember seeing it. I think there's something strange about the way Apple is putting up new apps/updates.

It probably became 'ready for sale' on 8/4, and was finally pushed out to the store today. Like I am expecting my apps to have a release date of 8/6 when they finally push out.

The controls don't work... tilting the iPhone does nothing. Even changing the sensitivity to 100% does nothing at all... the car just goes in a straight line....

What a waste of £5.

Hmm... works well for me. You should turn off the phone and turn it back on. The lack of accelerometer action happened to me on another game a few times, and I turned it off and on it worked.

That worked, thanks.

Seems like a half decent game. I don't like the controls (Turning doesn't feel very steady), though tilting the phone forward and back makes the car go faster/slower.

I would give a more detailed review, but It's 3.20am and I'm going to bed. :p

Arghhh!! I'm getting so scik of Apple doing this!!
I always sort by release date so I can see what's new for THIS day, and always miss out because of this "back-dating" nonsense...

(game looks great, gonna buy it now, lol)

Same thing happened when Vay launched, it had a date of the 11th, but it was like the 16th, so it was impossible to know it was there unless I came across it in the forum.

Then the first update for it just came out and it too had an Aug 4th date on it, but it didn't seem to show up until several days later, and unless someone browsed 15 pages of most recent apps, you'd never know.

FOR EVERYONE WHO LIKES VIEWING THE LATEST APPS:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/RecentlyAddedIphoneApplications-PinchMedia

Check it out! I'm addicted to it...:D

P.S. pinchmedia.com is the source, they also have 3 other feeds on their site: updated, top 100 paid, top 100 free.

I think you're missing the point. These apps don't appear in these feeds because they are backdated.

arn

Oh. I hadn't read through all the feeds yet for this evening. That's pretty weird. I wonder how it would be possible to code it to account for these backdated apps? I don't know how the feeder is setup but apparently its only reading by date tags then, instead of just grabbing whatever new content there is. I don't know a whole lot about how to setup an RSS feed. Does anyone know a way around this?

Either way, the link should be relevant to a lot of people who just try to use iTunes to find the latest apps. Does TouchArcade have a feed?

I like the look of it, but is it worth $8 if I already have Cro-Mag Rally? It's not like I whip my phone out and play racing games all day.

Just got the game and been playing for an hour. It is utterly Boring! Like cutting cheese into really thin slices or watching paint dry on a very wet day. I want my dosh back!

GTS World racing does look nice, but I'm in the same boat as you. I already have Cro-Mag Rally and Crash Bandicoot, so I think I'll pass on this one.

Honestly, it does look boring. The tracks seem uninspired, and with little landmarks, I bet they all feel the same, and probably as soon as every turn.

What bugs me is trying to do realistic cars, and using textures. To me, the 2D cars make it feel cheap, and textures, well, if not sharp, they just look plain horrible, not to mention repetitive.

I'd much prefer a racing game with a clean vector polygon type look with solid fps. No textures, 2D cars, but just plain polygons cars and track with solid colors, no pixelated textures.

Would it be hard for the iPhone to run something like this?:

Or this:

The stunt track type game would be even better if custom tracks could be shared, and ran as smooth as cube runner.

I'm addicted to racing games, so I bought it. It think it's fun. There's a lot of room for improvement, but for a first release, I think it's great. I'd recommend it.

Fairly boring - but I wonder if that's laziness from the developers, or because the tilt controls don't allow precise enough control for very quick/tight corners. (i.e. quick chicanes, or tight hairpins). So, the tracks have to consist of lots of mundane not-very-tight corners.

It could use a braking/accelerating indicator - I had a hard job telling when I was actually hitting the brakes.
