Ok so I had a bad experience with the 560 gtx, now I am going to try gtx 295. I know its possible people have done it without messing with it.

Can anybody give me any tips to help it run smoothly.
Offer some words of wisdom? anyone done this?

I also heard with lion 10.7.5 all the nvidia drivers are preinstalled, so do I need to install anything?

ps. I know I should get a native apple graphics card, but they are so expensive and so crappy for the money, I did various comparisons on hwcompare.com and the old gtx 295 seemed pretty good and is relatively cheap, so thought I'd give it go.

Since GTX 295 has a TDP of 289W and requires both 6-pin and 8-pin power cables, I really doubt that you want to try it on the Mac Pro without using an external power supply.

What are you using your Mac Pro for? If you need a CUDA card for Premiere Pro etc then the GTX570 is the fastest available & can be found used for less than $200 or equivalent local currency. The power requirements are normal too.
