Does this cooler still fit in the first dual-width PCI slot or does it also block the second PCI slot (i.e. triple width) ?

It won't fit in the double wide slot.

There are some passives on arctic coolings website you might want to take a look at.

You might be able to flash a little lower fan speed in Windows but what will that do to the long term durability of the card?

Anyone have a suggestion for changing the cooling system on a 570 for a quieter card. All I can hear in my office is the 570 fan running.

What are you doing with the system when the fan is that loud? I've had fans get stuck at full speed, a simple PRAM or SMC reset usually does the trick and resets them to normal speeds/volume.

That didn't fix my 560Ti 448, it was just a loud card.

use istat to verify it isn't the PCI or another system fan that is running at high speed.
I just put an AMD HD7950 in and my PCI and Power Supply fan are both running a bit higher than normal. If I play a game\stress the card once done the fans all return to normal speeds.

It is not at full speed.

It's just a cheap OEM version card with a flimsy broken fan cage that is loose on the card. I figure if I am going to change it I should use a better cooler.
This card doesn't even have any identity markings as to who the manufacturer is. I traded a PC version nVidia FX4800 plus $100.00 for it.

How to monitor the temps of the video card GTX 570 from MacVidCards?
Thanks.
