Dear all,

I'm using MacPro 2009 and Mountain Lion GM, and I'm happy with it. As I know if getting GTX570, may just simply plug-in and connect those 2 power cable and it will rock.
After I read through the forum, I'm confusing if under my hardware/OS, will having the boot screen, or need to modifiy the rom (as Ati 6870) to makes the boot screen works?

Thanks.

The boot screen is orthogonal to the OS/driver, it's simply a function of whether the card has an EFI on it. Thus, if you get a stock PC card with no EFI, you won't have a boot screen. If you get a modified card with an EFI, you will get a boot screen.

In most cases, you really actually don't need a boot screen, I've been using an EFI-less card for the past 6 months or so and it's been fine. When I switch to and from Boot Camp, I just use the System Preferences or Control Panel to select the boot OS.

Note that as was pointed out recently, the boot screen is not the same as the login window. It's just the Apple logo during boot, or the console during single user mode.

Thanks for your reply. For instance, if there is no os in my Macpro, so there is no way to select my prepared mountain lion USB thumb drive as boot disc?
For the choice of GTX570. are all working well or I need to pick those reference board design?
