GTX 650 Ti BOOST in a mac pro 3.1?

hi,
i have recently brought a mac pro early 2008 2.8ghz 8 core 10gb RAM,
currently it has dual 2600 xt 256mb graphics cards in it and its really starting to show its age interms of graphics performance and i want to upgrade the graphics card in it to give a bit more performance.
i have chosen a GTX 650 Ti BOOST pc card from MSI,

i have herd of people running a 650 ti in a mac pro, but not a Boost edition one,
has anyone seen this done? will it work?
i run mountain lion 10.8.4 btw
also does it matter if the card is factory overclocked? will it make my mac spaz-out?

Check the sticky FAQ thread for more details, but yeah, it should work just fine. All the Kepler family of cards (GTX 6xx and apparently GTX 7xx) seem to be working well with Mountain Lion 10.8.4 and the latest NVIDIA web driver.

Thanks mate, i have jsut upgraded from a late 2006 imac to a mac pro, just i really want sure if it would work or not
anyways ill give it a go and ill need to order 2 pcie powercables for the mac pro.

also does it matter if the card is factory overclocked? (from MSI)

No, you´ll be far away from the max you can draw from the MP PSU.

Has anyone had any success flashing a 650-series card to obtain a boot screen? Or is that only possible with PC cards where someone has produced the same model in a "Mac Edition"?

There's a flashing tool, Zeus, to do this, but it appears outdated and non-functional now.
