After my recent upgrade to the EVGA GTX 660, my MacPro has been shutting down at random times while I working in Maya on my Windows partition. The card is about 2 weeks new and I thought the culprit could be power issues, temperature issues, or a faulty card. I've attempted to search for others that had the same issue as me but it seems like they have a variation to my problems. The temperature never exceeded 45C, there are no artifacts or issues when running a benchmark test (FurMark), and the new card only requires one of the power cords instead of 2 unlike the old card I had. When it shuts down I do not get any sort of prompt. It just shuts down as if I had held down the power button.
I'm not sure what I should list as far as computer parts but here's a start:
MacPro 3.1
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit SP1
Ram: 6 GB FB-DDR2 @ 399MHz
GPU: EVGA GTX 660 ftw edition 3gb
my old card was EVGA GTX 285 mac edition and I've had zero problems with it.
For my Mac OS if it matters it's version 10.8.4 and reads the 660 properly.
If anyone can assist, let me know what other information I need to provide so I can get that asap.
