So how many people have upgraded to this Mac Edition card, and what have you noticed about complete compatability? Any issues? What about performance compared to the ATI5870. Will I notice much performance boost going from my ATI5870 in my 3.06 12 core Mac Pro? Any stability issues? Is it 100% plug and play?

Depends on what you are doing Tony. I see 2x increases in games. Sometimes more. You will not see 2x increases in OpenCL as Nvidia hamstrung the GeForce lineage. I came from 5870. You wont notice anything just working off your desktop. Like office and general computing. You will have 1536 CUDA cores at your disposal.

Thanks much. Wonder if this will help accelerate Lightwaves Modeler?

the VRAM boost alone "should" help compared to your existing card.

not 100% familiar with their requirements, but believe they now support OpenCL in latest versions. read through some of the reports from people using the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950. depending on the work you do outside of Lightwave, this might be an alternative to consider - and a bit cheaper.
