Hi I have just got hold of a GTX680 Mac Edition which has installed fine. Boot screen is showing no problem. Question is do I need to update the drivers or will it be ok to leave it. I recall there is a programme I can download that will sit in system preferences so I can check the firmware??

I think I have answered my own question. Downloaded CUDA drivers and also web drivers. Unsure which are better, any views?

There is no "better"; they do different things.

You'll want to install the CUDA drivers if any of your apps can use CUDA.

The web drivers replace the built-in Apple drivers. I'm unsure of the specific benefits with the GTX 680.

unless you need the cuda there's not much point in installing it but at the same time it wont hurt it just wont do anything, nvidia driver is optional up to you iv got a gtx660 and see almost no difference with it on and sometimes get crashes from having it on in a few games. you can turn it on and of so try it.

osx auto updates drivers and i cant see meany new ones for the 680 as it's 4years old or something

Thanks all set up now and appreciate I have the choice between drivers. I think CUDA did make a difference with some of the photography programmes I used and on the whole everything seems quite a lot quicker than my old ATI 5870

:E cuda is not used by any photo app i know, Photoshop uses openGL which is not got anything to do with CUDA.
openGL with Photoshop tends to make problems and slowdowns

GTX 680 Mac Edition ROM woes continue.

Aside from the aforementioned display bugs in the Mac version of Photoshop (that also affects 9 series cards), graphics performance in apps such as Photoshop or Blender also take a dive under Windows. I tested in Bootcamp and a real PC. Gaming is unaffected, the issues are occurring in windowed applications only.

It appears that lately Nvidia has been releasing drivers on Windows and OS X that are not thoroughly tested with Mac EFI ROMs. This is probably a sign that their Mac development department has shrunk down to just a handful of part timers who do some work on Metal support and push out a new version of the web driver (with no noticeable core changes) whenever there is an OS X update.
