90w single 6 pin and 3x displayport.. But does it work in yosemite? if so i found my new baby for $150..Hopefully the measly 90w tdp will not cause the expansion fans to roar.
thing is i use 3 1440p displays and i do not game. i need something that can take advantage of metal and have 3x displayports. Ive been using a gt120 with a 5770 to power the displays. But the 5770 would over heat with little effort and all other cards would be annoying with the pcie fans except the 750 ti because i assume its draws no power from the power supply.
id get a 970/980/ti if it wasn't for the fans. I know theres all types of solutions but im a shutdown computer type of person and having to run like heaven or some program gets annoying. Im thinking of just getting 2 750tis that run on slot power i know for sure those keep mac fans quiet.A GTX680 can be found for a little more and is almost three times as fast on the Mac. It has the outputs and probably Metal support. We don't know much about how Metal is going to perform yet.
The PCI Fan will spin up at first use; just force it too go 100% (Macs Fan Control app) and then let it readjust itself automatically.

im talking about the pcie exspansion fans on the mac pro itself. Allot of mac pros have this problem. You have the perfect mac pro this doesn't apply to you haha the gpu fan itself i could care less about. What about the fans? My 980 is quiet. Heck, the fans don't even move at all when the card is idle. EVGA had to include a brightly colored note telling customers that this was normal, and no, your fans aren't broken.

slot 1 or 2? are your gpu flashed with efi? macvidcards is hovering this forum i hope he could just reply yes or no on efi cards aren't affected haha? With my GTX 680 or GTX 980, the expansion slot fan stays at 800rpm under normal desktop use.

I don't think this issue affects everyone.
So much for this being a thread about the new GTX 950.Ah I see, for me this works but I read up upon it and there are a lot of mixed experiences.
I am using a 5.1 with GTX 680 4GB flashed with public Mac EFI and before that a GTX 660 2GB, both made the fans behave in the same way (go to 100% and they balance out automatically at stock 800RPM afterwards).
I got a good deal on a gtx 950, but the nvdia driver wont install. It wants el cap 15g1108 and I have el cap 15g1004. I don't see any osx updates in app store. Do I need to install the latest itunes to get this version number?
Ok, I found a security patch to install, I will see if that does it.
They need to match. Don't do new updates until a new driver is available.
There is a good list here:
